Detailed Description
The insulator is composed of porcelain components and upper and lower metal attachments bonded together with adhesive. Elastic pads are placed between the porcelain components and metal attachments where they are bonded. The bonding areas of the porcelain components feature structures such as sandblasting, knurling, and grooving to ensure mechanical strength and prevent loosening or twisting. The porcelain surface is evenly glazed white, and the metal attachments are coated with gray magnetic paint.
The insulator porcelain components have two main structures: a hollow partition (penetrable) structure and a solid (non-penetrable) structure. The composite pillar insulators are generally of the solid non-penetrable structure. This latter structure enhances safety and reliability over the former, reducing maintenance and testing efforts.
The insulator porcelain pieces come in two shapes: with more or fewer棱. The multi-棱 shape increases the surface distance, offering better electrical properties than the fewer-棱 shape. All products except for the gradually being phased out rubber-insulated pole insulators are of the multi-棱 design.
Internal rubber-mounted structure, due to the metal accessories being sealed into the porcelain component holes, it correspondingly increases the insulation distance and enhances electrical performance. At the same time, it reduces the space required during installation. However, as internal rubber mounting is not beneficial for improving mechanical strength, insulators with high mechanical strength requirements should use combined rubber mounting (i.e., the upper accessories use internal rubber mounting, and the lower accessories use external rubber mounting).
High-voltage line suspension porcelain insulators are used for insulation and wire fixation in overhead transmission and distribution lines. They are typically assembled into insulator strings for use on lines of various voltage levels.
Standard insulators are suitable for general areas; increasing the number of insulator discs can also enhance the anti-fouling performance if appropriate.
Suspended porcelain insulators are composed of porcelain components, iron caps, and steel feet, bonded with a cement of not less than No. 525 silicate cement and quartz sand adhesive. The contact surfaces of the iron caps and steel feet with the adhesive are coated with a thin buffering layer, and the top of the steel feet features an elastic pad. The porcelain surface is generally glazed with white and brown glaze, or other glazes as required. The iron caps and steel feet are all hot-dip galvanized. The ball-type connecting pull-push elastic locking pins come in W and R types, both made of tin bronze, brass, and austenitic stainless steel, offering good elasticity, corrosion resistance, and ease of assembly and disassembly. The cylindrical and camelback-shaped opening pins for groove connections, the former with a surface hot-dip galvanized, and the latter made of brass. The aforementioned elastic locking pins, cylindrical pins, and other zero-insulators are divided into ball and groove types according to the method of connection.
Standard and dirt-resistant insulators of the same strength grade, with the same ball socket connection dimensions, can be interchanged.
