The purpose of the brake pad steel backing is primarily to secure the friction material, facilitating installation in the braking system. The steel backing is a component of the brake pad. Currently, disc brakes are widely used in the market, and almost all disc brake pads have high-strength friction material sintered onto a steel plate. This plate moves freely within the caliper under the push of the brake fluid cylinder. Since this steel plate is located behind the friction pads, it is commonly referred to as the steel backing.
