Polyoxymethylene (POM) is an engineering plastic with outstanding comprehensive properties. It boasts excellent physical, mechanical, and chemical properties, especially superior friction resistance. Commonly known as "Sai Gang" or "Duo Gang," it is the third most widely used plastic. POM has good comprehensive properties and coloring ability, high modulus of elasticity, high rigidity and hardness, and strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios close to those of metals. It exhibits excellent tensile strength, flexural strength, resistance to creep and fatigue, and is resistant to repeated impact and has good unloaded recovery. The low friction coefficient, wear resistance, good dimensional stability, and high surface luster, along with high viscoelasticity, low wettability, and excellent electrical insulation that is not affected by temperature. It has good shock absorption and sound-damping properties due to its elasticity, low water absorption, and good insulation that is not affected by humidity. It has excellent chemical resistance: stable against most chemicals except strong acids, phenols, and organic halides, and is oil-resistant. Its mechanical properties are minimally affected by temperature and it has a high thermal deformation temperature.
