The residential gate system is a specialized access control equipment for restricting motor vehicle traffic on roads, widely used at highway toll stations, parking lots, residential complexes, and corporate entrances for vehicle entry and exit management. Electric gates can be operated independently via remote control to raise or lower the barrier arm, or they can be activated passively through the parking management system (i.e., IC card access system). The vehicle's approach to the ground loop inductance triggers an inductive transmission to the vehicle detector. The detector then declares signals for two relays: one for entry into the ground loop and one for departure, with each set having long open and long closed signals. Additionally, the barrier gate usually has a ground loop infrared input interface. Normally, the vehicle detection signal is connected to the ground loop infrared interface, where the barrier gate is unlocked when a vehicle arrives and relocked when the vehicle passes. However, if the supplier's product lacks a ground loop infrared interface, or the interface is faulty, or if the new vehicle detector does not match the ground loop infrared interface, they connect the vehicle detector's two signals to the barrier gate's unlocking and locking ports. This still ensures the barrier gate automatically relocks when the vehicle passes and maintains the vehicle when stopped, but the drawback is that the gate will open if the vehicle is pressed against the ground loop.
