The residential gate system is a specialized access control device for restricting motor vehicle traffic on roads, now widely used at highway toll plazas, parking lots, residential communities, and corporate entrances for vehicle entry and exit management. Electric gates can be independently operated by remote control to raise and lower the barrier, or they can be activated proactively through a parking management system (i.e., an IC card-based system). Depending on the application, the gates can be straight, 90-degree curved, 180-degree folding, or grille-style.
The vehicle passes through the ground induction loop, which transmits an inductive signal to the vehicle detector. The detector then sends two relay signals: one for entry into the loop and another for exit, each with normally open and normally closed signals. Additionally, the barrier gate typically has a ground induction infrared input interface. Normally, the vehicle detection signal is connected to the infrared interface. When a vehicle arrives, the barrier gate is opened with a card swipe, and it closes automatically when the vehicle passes. However, if the supplier's product lacks an infrared interface, or if the interface is damaged, or if the new vehicle detector and infrared interface are not compatible, they connect the detector's two signals to the barrier gate's open and close ports. This still ensures the barrier closes automatically when the vehicle passes, and prevents accidental lowering of the barrier when the vehicle is present. The only drawback is that the barrier may open if the vehicle is pressed against the ground induction loop. Another scenario involves issues with the barrier control board or card swipe mainboard, which can be determined by inspecting the on-site wiring connections.
