PH13-8Mo Process Properties:
a. Hot Working: The forging temperature range for steel is 1170~1205°C. To achieve a refined grain structure, the deformation should be greater than 50% below 1040°C.
b. Cold Working: This steel can undergo cold rolling and cold drawing without any difficulties.
c. Heat Treatment: The atmosphere of the heating furnace for heat treatment should be controlled to prevent decarburization and carburization. Achieving an aging temperature of 535℃ provides a balance of strength, toughness, and resistance to stress corrosion. For ease of cold forming with large deformation and to provide machinability, it is recommended to use overaging treatment, which involves cooling at 760℃ for 2 hours, then reheating to 620℃ for 4 hours, referred to as H1150-M.
PH13-8Mo steel is a high-purity martensitic stainless steel produced through double vacuum melting. Like other precipitation-hardening stainless steels, it exhibits corrosion resistance in the fully hardened state. Although it is somewhat susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement at various temperatures below 565°C under stringent testing conditions, hydrogen embrittlement fractures are rarely encountered in actual use. Above 595°C, it is immune to hydrogen-induced cracking. Additionally, when aged at 595°C or higher, the steel possesses resistance to sulfur stress corrosion cracking.
