654SMo Super Austenitic Stainless Steel is a super austenitic stainless steel containing 23% nickel, 25% chromium, and 7% molybdenum, offering superior corrosion resistance compared to standard austenitic steel.

654 SMO super austenitic stainless steel refining method:

The currently popular argon-oxygen decarburization refining process (VOD or AOD) for smelting, which can also be used in the continuous casting method for producing stainless steel. However, due to the much lower demand for 654SMO steel compared to standard austenitic stainless steel, and since AOD or VOD refining furnaces (typically requiring more than 20 tons per batch) are used for smelting, our Shanghai Guoshuo Metal Alloys Company uses a vacuum induction refining furnace for steelmaking, supplemented by electroslag remelting refining, followed by forging and processing into round bars, forgings, flanges, and more.
