Billboard Safety Inspection and Certification, Wall Billboard Certification Agency
I. Overview
In recent years, there have been frequent accidents involving outdoor billboards. Previous investigations in Shijiazhuang and Hohhot revealed numerous issues and potential safety hazards. Many billboard accidents have occurred across the country, with safety incidents involving billboards continually emerging.
In 2004, a billboard of Xining Lijiang Real Estate Co., Ltd., located on the west side of "May Day Bridge" along the river in the central district, was blown over by strong winds, resulting in three citizens being injured.
In 2005, a massive billboard collapsed at the Fulin Square on Baoshan Street in Kunming.
In 2006, a 10-meter-high billboard on the north side of Beijing's Jingshun Road, near Sunhe Bridge, was blown away by strong winds. The scraped metal panel struck four moving cars within one hour and even fell into the middle of the road. A 50-meter guardrail caused short-term traffic congestion in the alleyways leading in and out of Beijing.
In 2009, a restaurant's billboard in Chengdu injured a passerby. Upon arrival at the scene, people found the fallen billboard on the steps, with a few supports attached. The surrounding area wasn't even secured with screws; it could be easily pushed with a bit of force.
Based on the data from the Outdoor Advertising Management Office, in 2019, there were 32 safety incidents caused by outdoor billboards.

Daily maintenance for steel structure billboards should be mindful of the following points:
1. Strict material selection:
When selecting steel, test the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the steel used in steel structures, inspect the steel's appearance, and discard any material with cracks, rust spots, and other defects.
2. Caution During Construction:
During the construction of billboards, avoid damaging the surface of the steel used, and prohibit drilling and welding on critical load-bearing areas.
3. Regular Inspections
After the billboard is put into use, it should be regularly inspected for safety, and damaged or worn-out components should be identified and replaced promptly. If there is significant aging or damage to the main components, consider reinforcing measures.
4. Note anti-corrosion precautions.
Common anti-corrosion measures for steel include: painting the surface with lacquer or applying a metallic protective layer to the components; contact between different metals can also lead to corrosion, so if different metal materials are used in the structure, the contact surfaces should be insulated; also, during design, attention should be given to the placement of materials to avoid water accumulation in steel grooves causing rust. If outdoor billboard steel structures have design flaws or are damaged by external forces, affecting their stability, they should be reinforced promptly.
