Sand casting is a method of producing castings by molding them in sand molds. Castings made of steel, iron, and most non-ferrous alloys can be obtained through sand casting. Due to the low cost and easy availability of the molding materials used in sand casting, as well as the simplicity of mold manufacturing, it is adaptable to single piece, batch, and mass production of castings. For a long time, it has been a fundamental process in casting production.
