As society continues to evolve, generator rentals have become a common piece of equipment in people's daily lives and production. Easy to use and space-saving, they are widely applied in numerous places. However, when renting generators, due to their frequent use, issues like generator malfunctions often arise. What are the common causes of generator malfunctions and how to solve oil leakage problems?
Common Causes of Generator Set Failures Analysis
1. Internal reasons
1. Material and Oil Properties
During the design and manufacturing process, materials should be selected correctly based on the working characteristics and features of the generator parts. Improper material selection, substandard materials, and inappropriate substitutes are the main reasons for part wear, corrosion, deformation, fracture, and aging. The performance of various materials and oils used in the equipment can be summarized as physical properties, chemical properties, and mechanical properties. Many faults of the unit are caused by external factors. If metal materials deform excessively, they will oxidize under high temperatures; non-metallic materials will age, acidic substances in the oil will corrode metal, and the oil will deteriorate.
2. Structural Features of Machine Parts
Each component of the unit has its own structural characteristics. In operation, external factors often act through these characteristics, leading to malfunctions in the relevant parts. For instance, due to the structural features of the engine water jacket, under high temperatures, scale forms on the cylinder sleeve outer wall, affecting the cooling efficiency of the cylinder sleeve.
3. Working Characteristics of Mechanical Parts
Friction leads to wear between parts that are in direct contact and relative motion. For instance, diesel engine piston rings directly contact the cylinder. During operation, the piston rings move rapidly back and forth in a straight line within the cylinder, causing wear. Parts subject to drastic temperature changes during operation may deform and crack due to thermal stress. In the case of a diesel engine, as the engine operates, the internal stresses in the cylinder block and cylinder head redistribute due to swelling, reaching a new equilibrium and causing the cylinder head surface to warp.
2. External Factors
Improper use
Users failed to follow the operational procedures. Frequent low-speed operation without preheating and rapid increase in load can accelerate the wear of parts due to low oil pressure; excessive working hours, significant load changes, and long-term overloading can also lead to premature damage to components.
2. Poor maintenance
During maintenance, work is not completed strictly in accordance with technical requirements, or incorrect operational methods are used, resulting in human errors. In daily maintenance, it is essential to replace engine oil promptly and regularly clean the dirt in the air filter and water tank. Perform daily maintenance and first, second, and third-level maintenance on the unit as required.
3. Poor repair quality
During the repair process, improper processing, failure to meet technical repair requirements, such as incorrect fitting gaps between parts, insufficient surface finish, and unclean assembly, may lead to malfunctions during operation. In the assembly process, the accuracy of the relative positions of the parts is also crucial. If the requirements are not met, additional stress will be generated, resulting in eccentric wear and other adverse consequences, accelerating the failure of the parts.
Solution for Oil Leaks in Generator Rental Equipment
Oil Leak Control
If there is a leakage at the paper gaskets on the bottom shell of the oil tank, cylinder head, gear chamber cover, and rear cover of the crankcase, as long as the paper gaskets are intact and the mating surfaces are clean, apply a layer of lubricant on both sides of the gaskets and tighten the bolts to prevent leakage. If new paper gaskets are being used, soak them in diesel for 10 minutes before installation, then remove and wipe them clean. Apply a layer of grease on the mating surfaces before installation.
2. Anaerobic Sealant Leakproof
When there is a leakage at the ventilation bolts, double-end bolts, and plug ends of the generator rental equipment, anaerobic adhesive can be applied to the cleaned bolts, threads, or holes to quickly form a domestic film, filling the gaps of the parts and withstanding high pressure. At the same time, it also has strong shock resistance and anti-loosening fastening properties.
