    I. Project Background

    Soybeans are a low-yield crop, with yields less than one-third of rice and corn.

    Due to poor planting returns and other factors, China's soybean planting area has been shrinking year by year. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the nationwide soybean planting area in 2021 was 126 million mu, a decrease of 22 million mu from the previous year, marking a 14.8% drop.

    Soybean consumption continues to rise. Data shows that in 2020, China's cumulative soybean imports reached 100.33 million tons, surpassing 1 billion tons for the first time. In the first 11 months of 2021, soybean imports have already reached 87.65 million tons. In recent years, over 80% of the national soybean demand has been dependent on imports, making it the crop with the highest import dependency.

    "Soybeans are a vital food crop, and their byproduct, soybean meal, is an essential feed protein." Says Yang Huawei, Director of the Zigong Institute of Agricultural Sciences and a soybean breeding expert, "The increased consumption of meat, eggs, and milk is the primary factor driving the sustained rise in soybean demand."

    As a major province for soy product consumption, Sichuan's import of soybeans has been increasing year by year. In 2018, the province imported 1.47 million tons of soybeans via rail and waterways, and this figure surged to 2.5 million tons in 2020. That year, the local production was 1.013 million tons, resulting in a self-sufficiency rate of 28.84%.

    A relevant official from the Department of Planting and Fertilizer of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture, Rural Affairs, and Rural Revitalization openly stated that stabilizing and increasing the self-sufficiency rate of soybeans in Sichuan is not only a crucial measure to secure the "Tianfu Rice Bowl," but also a necessity for serving the national food security strategy.

    The biggest challenge in increasing production is the difficulty in finding land. Yong Taiwen, a scientist at the Southern Regional High-Yield Cultivation Post of the National Soybean Industrial Technology System and a professor at Sichuan Agricultural University, said that with a local soybean yield of 130 kilograms per mu, to achieve the replacement of 100 million tons of imported soybeans, the country would require 769 million mu of arable land, which is very difficult to achieve.

    "We must ensure not to compete with other cereal crops for land," Professor Yang Wenyu of Sichuan Agricultural University said, "The only way is to store grain in the land, and especially in technology."

    In the plant kingdom, corn is known as the "King of Energy," while soybeans are hailed as the "King of Protein." The strip intercropping technique of corn and soybeans has unexpectedly produced remarkable results when paired together.

    II. Project Overview

    The Sichuan Shehong Soybean and Corn Strip-Cropping Demonstration Park is located in Shehong City, Suining City, Sichuan Province, and emerged naturally in the promotion of soybean and corn strip-cropping in Sichuan Province.

    Shijiazhuang Shengqi Technology has developed an integrated agricultural protection system for farmlands, featuring pest and disease early warning, lure and kill agricultural pests, soil moisture monitoring, and land meteorological monitoring. This system has significantly enhanced the demonstration garden's response and coping capabilities against agricultural pests and diseases.

    The Pest Monitoring and Reporting System is a new-generation pest monitoring tool, also known as the Smart Pest Monitoring Light or the Intelligent Pest Monitoring Light. Made of stainless steel, this light utilizes modern optical, electrical, and CNC technologies to achieve automatic processing of insect bodies using far-infrared, automatic conversion of insect collection bags, and the automatic operation of the entire lamp. It can independently complete tasks such as attracting, killing, collecting, packaging, and draining insects without human supervision.

    This system primarily utilizes modern optical, electrical, CNC, wireless transmission, and Internet of Things technologies to construct an integrated pest ecological monitoring and early warning system. The system combines pest trapping and photography, environmental information collection, data transmission, and analysis, achieving automated and intelligent functions such as pest attraction, classification and statistics, real-time reporting, remote monitoring, pest early warning, and control guidance. It boasts features like stable performance, simple operation, and flexible settings.

     

     


    The innovative Ultrasonic Weather Station integrates various meteorological elements through a high-level structural design, enabling continuous 24-hour online monitoring of outdoor meteorological parameters. The monitoring results are output to users via digital communication interfaces in one go. Paired with an LED screen, users can clearly view meteorological parameters even in the fields.

     



    The Field Comprehensive Monitoring System allows for a clear and intuitive real-time view of crop growth and pest and disease conditions in planting areas, as well as timely monitoring and recording of sudden abnormal events, providing efficient command and dispatch.


     



    Agricultural pest control is a crucial measure for ensuring agricultural production and the well-being of farmers, directly impacting crop cultivation and yields, farmer income, and environmental pollution.
