1. The cutter suction dredger is versatile, capable of operating in rivers, lakes, and seas for sediment removal, channel excavation, and land reclamation. In special cases, the cutter suction dredger can be equipped with high-power cutter equipment to excavate basalt and limestone rock formations.

2. Suction dredgers offer high efficiency and large yields with extended pump distances. Large-scale suction dredgers can achieve several thousand cubic meters per hour; they rely on powerful propulsion to pump mud, sand, or crushed rock materials through mud pumps and pipeline systems, extending up to kilometers away.

The cutter suction dredger operates simply and is easy to control. The dredger relies on the carriage at the stern to position and advance the steel piles, utilizing the winch arm's steel cables fixed to anchors on both sides of the dredging channel. These cables are pulled by the winch, causing the dredger to swing back and forth, cutting through the mud and sand material. Working under a controlled swing angle, the material is then pumped through a pipeline to the spoil disposal area. The advancement of the dredger is achieved through the alternating movement of two piles, stepping forward.

4. The large cutter suction dredger is equipped with an autonomous navigation system, allowing it to navigate to the location independently during relocation. Small and medium-sized dredgers typically lack an autonomous navigation system and are towed by tugs. These smaller dredgers can be designed and constructed in modular form, transported to the site by land, and then assembled for use.

The cutter suction dredger offers excellent economy. The excavation and transportation of materials are completed in one go, eliminating the need for additional vessels and multiple transfers. It results in lower engineering costs.
