We expect product manufacturers to comply with the relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards and codes of practice in the countries where they operate. Additionally, all manufacturers producing products with the TCCC brand must meet the requirements related to working conditions as defined in the TCCC Code of Conduct.
We expect product manufacturers to assess their employees' work based on their ability rather than physical attributes, personal characteristics, or beliefs, thereby establishing a principle against illegal discrimination. This principle should oppose any form of discrimination based on race, skin color, gender, religious beliefs, nationality, or sexual orientation.
All product manufacturers should provide a safe and hygienic working environment to minimize the risk of accidents and exposure to hazards. Manufacturers must ensure that workers have access to clean drinking water, clean sanitation facilities, adequate lighting, ventilation, and sufficient emergency exits and fire extinguishers in production areas. The same standards should be met in dining halls and dormitory areas. Manufacturers are required to provide training to promote production safety and reduce the incidence of workplace injuries.
Employees have the right to choose a third party to negotiate with the product manufacturer on their behalf in any event. We expect the product manufacturer to negotiate as promised, while also ensuring that employees are not retaliated against for their legal participation in labor organizations.
