Real Stone Paint Application Technique

Process Flow

Base surface treatment → Two coats of exterior putty → Exterior sanding

Mortar → Two coats of exterior sealant primer → Taping off lines → Applying masking tape → Two coats of exterior stone paint → One coat of water-based exterior varnish.

2. Substrate Treatment

Prior to construction, ensure proper handover of work surfaces to the previous construction team. The wall's vertical and flatness should not exceed 4mm (checked with a 2m ruler), and no hollows or cracks should be present on the wall. The inside and outside corners must be straight and square. If the requirements are not met, have the previous construction team make corrections. The wall must be dry before applying the putty, with a moisture content less than 10%, a pH value less than 10, and a temperature of no less than 1°C, with relative humidity not exceeding 85%.

Exterior Wall Putty and Sanding

Apply two coats of general-purpose wall putty to ensure each compartment of the wall is completely smooth.

Mix ratio: Putty:Water = 1:0.35 (adjustable according to climate and environment).

(2) The maximum thickness of the leveling putty for scraping should not exceed 3mm.

(3) Allow the previous layer of putty to dry before applying the next coat. At a temperature of 1°C, the interval between coats should be no less than 12 hours. In warmer temperatures or with good ventilation, the drying time can be shortened.

(4) After applying the joint compound, use a fine-grit sandpaper with a sanding stand or sander to sand the surface, to prevent creating wall textures.

4. Apply primer

Once the base surface meets the above requirements, apply one coat of alkali-resistant and mildew-proof primer using a roller on the base surface. Attention should be given to ensure even and consistent application without drips or missed spots.
