Maintenance and Care Tips for Diesel Generator Sets

Routine Maintenance: Inspect and record the generator's daily operations report; Check the generator: oil level, coolant level; Daily inspection for generator damage, leaks, and belt tension or wear; Inspect the air filter, clean or replace the air filter element; Drain water or sediment from the fuel tank and fuel filter; Check the water filter; Inspect the starting battery; Start the generator and check for any issues; Clean the radiator fins at the front and rear with an air gun and clean water.

Level 2 Maintenance: Repeat daily and weekly inspections of Level 1; replace generator engine oil (oil change cycle: every 250 hours or 1 month); replace oil filter (filter element change cycle: every 250 hours or 1 month); replace fuel filter element (change cycle: every 250 hours or 1 month); replace coolant or check coolant (water filter element change cycle: 250-300 hours, add supplemental coolant DCA to the cooling system); clean or replace air filter (air filter change cycle: every 500-600 hours).

Tier 3 Maintenance: Replace diesel and oil filters, water filter; change water and oil in the radiator; adjust tension of the fan belt; inspect the turbocharger; disassemble, inspect, and clean the PT pump and actuator; remove the rocker cover, check the T-shaped plate, valve guides, and intake and exhaust valves; adjust the lift of the fuel injectors; adjust the valve clearance; inspect the charging generator; check the radiator and clean the external radiator of the radiator; add radiator treatment to the radiator and clean the interior; inspect the diesel engine sensors and connection wires; check the diesel engine instrument panel.
