KDSH-I Intrinsically Safe Power Supply

I. Main Applications

KDSH-I outputs intrinsically safe power supplies (hereinafter referred to as power supplies), designed to power Class I intrinsically safe equipment.

The power supply features dual overload and overvoltage protection, which automatically resumes normal operation after the fault is resolved.

II. Working Principle

As shown in Figure 1, after the AC voltage input, the high-frequency interference from the power grid system and the interference from the power supply itself to the power grid are suppressed through a low-pass filter. The voltage is then rectified and converted into high-frequency voltage by the switching tube. This high-frequency voltage is transformed and rectified to produce DC voltage, which is stabilized automatically through a pulse width modulator via feedback signals. The current limiting protector serves its function by acting on the current limiting through the sampling resistor circuit.

Section 6: Technical Data

1) The power supply should operate normally under the following environmental conditions:

a. Environmental Temperature: 0℃ to +40℃

b. Average Relative Humidity: Not more than 95% (+25℃)

c. Atmospheric Pressure: 80kPa ~ 106kPa

d. Applications with no significant vibration or shock.

e. Explosive mixtures are present in underground coal mines, but there are no corrosive gases that damage insulation.

2) Electrical Performance, Main Technical Specifications

2.1 Power Supply

a. Voltage: AC 127V ~ AC 242V

b. Frequency: 50 Hz

c. Voltage fluctuation range: 75% - 110%.

2.2 Intrinsically Safe Power Output

a. Voltage and current values are listed in Table 1.

b. Output Voltage Deviation (%): ≤5%

c. Source Effect: ≤5%

d. Load Effect: ≤5%

e. Cycle and Random Offset Peak-to-Peak (Vp-p): ≤250mV.

3) The intrinsically safe power supply features overcurrent protection, which automatically resumes normal operation after the fault is cleared.

Section 7: Use of Safety Power Supply

Connect by terminal and wiring diagram (Figure 3).

Section 8: Installation and Usage Precautions

The cross-sectional area of the soft copper wire leading to the site (hazardous area) must be greater than 0.5 mm².

b. The insulation strength of the connecting wires should be greater than 500V.

c. Do not connect or mix up the intrinsically safe power supply terminals (marked in blue) with non-intrinsically safe terminal circuits. It is recommended to use blue wire for intrinsically safe marking.

Non-intrinsically safe cables and intrinsically safe cables should be laid separately in the conduit channel and use their respective protective conduits.

The intrinsically safe side of the intrinsic power supply does not allow any other power sources to be mixed in, including those from other intrinsic circuits.

d. When conducting separate power supply debugging, pay close attention to the model, polarity, voltage rating, and labeling of the terminal on the power supply housing.

e. Absolutely prohibit the use of a megohmmeter to test the insulation between the intrinsically safe power terminals. When inspecting the insulation of the system wiring, disconnect all intrinsically safe power connections first.

f. The safety power supply is fully encapsulated in rubber. In case of damage to the internal module requiring replacement, it must be repaired by the manufacturer and inspected before it can be put back into operation.

g. When the overcurrent protection trips, the Benbenan power supply's output approaches zero. After the fault is cleared, the output automatically returns to the normal value.

h. The installation, operation, and maintenance of intrinsically safe power supplies should strictly comply with the relevant provisions of the "Regulations for Electrical Safety in Explosive and Hazardous Areas of the People's Republic of China."

  

Section 9: Quality Assurance

The manufacturer will provide free repair or replacement within one year from the date of shipment from the factory, provided the user operates the product as instructed in the manual.
