Grab buckets are specialized tools for cranes to handle dry bulk cargo. Composed of two or more movable, bucket-like jaw plates that close together to form a container space, they close over the material pile during loading, capturing the material into the container space. During unloading, the jaws open while suspended above the pile, allowing the material to fall onto the pile. The opening and closing of the jaws are typically controlled by the crane's lifting mechanism wire ropes. Grab bucket operations eliminate heavy physical labor, achieve high loading and unloading efficiency, and ensure safety, making them the primary tools for dry bulk cargo handling at ports.
