Under normal working conditions, port cranes are often exposed to the elements, leading to damage from sun and rain. Since most port cranes are made of metal, encountering frequent rain or a particularly humid and cold environment can easily cause rust. Over time, this can significantly impact the performance of port cranes. So, how can we effectively reduce the rusting of port cranes to some extent?
To prevent rust on port cranes, there are numerous methods available. Here are some simple and effective techniques we will highlight. One approach is to apply a layer of paint on the metal body of the crane to effectively prevent rust. However, during the painting process, it's important to first clean any damaged areas on the crane's body thoroughly before applying protective or decorative paint layers. This ensures a high level of isolation between the metal surface and the external air, thus protecting the crane's metal surface from rust even in humid conditions like rain or snow.
Another simple yet effective method is to apply a layer of diesel on the movable parts of the port crane. After the diesel penetrates to the relevant areas of the crane, it forms a film of floating oil on the metal surface. Due to the low pour point of diesel, this floating oil can effectively prevent rust.
