The normal and safe operation of the crane at the dock greatly relies on the function of the wire rope accessories. Before the mechanical equipment is started, the wire rope inspection cannot be taken lightly. It must be checked sequentially from the outside to the inside according to the national regulations.
External inspection involves a full-length examination of the steel wire rope, with the inspection areas including:
1. Running wire rope and the fixed attachment for securing the rope's end.
2. Bypass the rope sections on the balancing pulley and the drum.
3. Areas potentially damaged by external factors (such as hatch coamings, etc.).
The inspection should include the following:
1. Wear Degree: Measure the diameter of the rope at each worn area.
2. Fraying Condition: Number of frayed threads and the distribution and extent of the fraying.
3. Corrosion Level: Presence of rust or corrosion.
4. Lubricating Oil Condition: Ensure the lubricating oil is appropriately present, and check for any fine debris or foreign matter adhered to the oil.
5. Twists and other anomalies: knot marks, flattening, damage, dents, loose strands, or loose twists, etc.
6. End Fitting Tightness: The detachability of the fitting, the tightness with the steel wire rope, and any deformation or wear of the fitting itself.
