In traditional power systems, electrical equipment with linear impedance variation characteristics does not interfere with the standard sine wave power supply at 50Hz. However, with the rapid development of modern power electronics technology, electrical equipment with nonlinear impedance characteristics (also known as nonlinear loads) is increasingly used. These nonlinear loads can cause distortion in the power system's supply frequency and waveform, from which different frequency sine waves can be extracted. This portion of extracted AC sine waves that are not 50Hz is collectively referred to as harmonics.
