Procedures for Quickly Resolving Oil Leaks in Worm Gear Reducers on Site

For users who frequently employ cycloidal reducers, mechanical issues are bound to arise; to address the common problems, the cycloidal reducer manufacturer has summarized some experiences to help reduce issues during use. The oil leakage issue with cycloidal reducers is a widespread concern in the industry. Here, we introduce the quick on-site steps to resolve cycloidal reducer oil leakage without requiring downtime for efficient and time-saving treatment.

Implement online governance or shutdown governance while ensuring safety.

2. Determine the leakage form, and for crack oil leakage, it is essential to control the stress of the cracks, such as by drilling crack arrest holes.

3. Form slots along the interface gaps, approximately 5mm wide and about 3mm deep.

4. Clean the grinding area of the cycloid reducer with clean cotton yarn soaked in anhydrous ethanol (99.6% concentration or higher).

5. Mix Soler SD2240 material in a 1:1 volume ratio until color uniformity is achieved (mix quickly and in small batches to prevent partial curing, keeping the mixing time under 2 minutes).

6. Quickly apply SD2240 to seal the oil leakage points around/onto the edges/surfaces, scrape and press repeatedly, keeping the width of the application under 10mm, ideally matching the width of the groove.

7. Solidification; after 30 minutes, inspect for any leaks when the environmental or equipment temperature is above 24°C. If leaks are found, continue to seal them.

8. If there are no leakage points, apply the SD3010 elastomeric polymer material, maintaining a thickness of 2-3mm. The application width should not exceed the total sanding area, but it must ensure that the SD3010 material width is more than 10mm wider than the SD2240 material.

Note: SD3010 material is a type of material designed for use against decelerating vibrations. Once opened, it should be used up in one go. If it cannot be used up in one go, it must be sealed promptly and used within one week.
