Heat exchanger, also known as a heat exchanger, is a device that transfers part of the heat from a hot fluid to a cold fluid. It is a general-purpose equipment in chemical, petrochemical, power, food, and many other industrial sectors, holding an important position in production. In chemical production, heat exchangers can act as heaters, coolers, condensers, evaporators, and reboilers, among others, with an even broader application. There are many types of heat exchangers, but they can be basically categorized into three main types based on the principle and method of heat exchange between the cold and hot fluids: wall-type, mixed-type, and regenerative-type. Among the three types of heat exchangers, wall-type heat exchangers are most widely used.

According to the structural material, heat exchangers can be divided into metal heat exchangers and non-metallic heat exchangers.
Heat exchangers are categorized into tubular and plate heat exchangers, based on the shape and structure of the heat transfer surface.
According to usage, they can be categorized into collective heating heat exchangers and residential heat exchangers.
