Expanding graphite boasts a well-developed pore structure, a vast specific surface area, and excellent adsorption properties. It has the ability to accumulate, retain, and react with substances within its pores while maintaining its own physical and chemical stability. These superior characteristics have led to the extensive application of expanded graphite as an adsorption and separation material in environmental protection. Below, Baixing Graphite's editor introduces the environmental protection material and adsorption filtration of expanded graphite:
Due to the direct impact of the pore structure of porous carbon on its adsorption behavior, our research lab has conducted extensive studies on the control of pore size and distribution in porous carbon, particularly focusing on the control of mesopores. These studies include: 1) Preparing porous carbon with controllable pore size by utilizing the replacement reaction between natural porous minerals and carbon; 2) Producing mesoporous carbon microspheres with tunable mesopore sizes through polymer blending and the addition of carbonizing activators; 3) Preparing high-strength porous carbon with a dominant mesopore structure using supercritical activation technology at lower activation temperatures.
Our team has investigated the adsorption behavior of expanded graphite and its application in indoor air purification. The research primarily focuses on using expanded graphite as an adsorption filter medium in air conditioning systems to remove certain indoor pollutants. Modifications are also made to the expanded graphite to selectively adsorb corrosive gases. Additionally, we have developed a porous carbon/TiO2 composite system, utilizing the porous carbon as a carrier and adsorbent, and the photocatalytic oxidation of TiO2 to effectively remove organic volatile compounds from indoor air.
