Hydroseeding, also known as liquid soil hydroseeding or matrix hydroseeding, is a rapid planting technique for seed sowing in China over the past decade. It is primarily used for biological slope protection projects on highways, railways, river embankments, and for restoring degraded grasslands. The core technology involves using specialized mixing machinery to blend the planting matrix and plant seeds evenly, adding water and pressure, and then spraying them through pipelines onto the surface of soil, soil mixed with stones, or rock surfaces treated with mesh. This creates a loose and stable vegetation cover, under suitable conditions, the seeds of grass and shrubs will quickly germinate and grow, achieving the effects of rapid greening and preventing soil and water erosion.

Moisture retention agents are essential components in the基质 for soil spraying, without which the greenification effect of the spraying is difficult to achieve. The general dosage is 1.5kg of moisture retention agent per cubic meter of基质. Additionally, 0.2kg of binder (anionic polyacrylamide PAM A30) is required per cubic meter of spraying基质 to bind soil particles and prevent soil and water erosion, hence also known as binder or glue powder.
