Safety nets are one of the primary equipment for construction safety protection. The setup of safety nets should be clearly regulated and requested in the construction organization plan, with a separate plan for those with mixed skills.
Safety Net Types: Safety nets are categorized into two types based on their suspension methods—vertical and horizontal setups.
1. Straight Set is commonly used as an external scaffolding for high-rise construction projects, equipped with safety nets for maintenance, typically made from fine nylon rope. The safety nets should be tightly sealed and securely fastened to the external scaffolding.
Level Safety Nets are commonly used in multi-story construction scaffolding. They are woven from 9mm diameter hemp rope, sisal rope, or nylon rope, with a standard size of 3m wide and 6m long, featuring a 5cm mesh. Each properly set safety net should be able to withstand an impact load of no less than 1600N.
Safety nets are installed at every second floor level, with an additional one as the construction height increases. Ensure the rope is undamaged, the roots are sturdy, tight, and securely fastened. The joints should be tightly sealed, and the support rods are best made of scaffolding pipes. The width of the net should not be less than 3 meters, with the smallest level being 6 meters wide.
3. Safety Net Installation Methods (1) Wall Window Frame Method: Crossbar 1 is placed inside the upper window wall and securely tied to the inner crossbar of the safety net. Crossbar 2 is placed outside the lower window wall and secured to the diagonal bar of the safety net. Crossbar 3 is placed inside and tied to Crossbar 2. The diagonal bar of the safety net should not be more than 4 meters apart. (2) Steel Hanger Method: For walls without windows, a safety net can be suspended using steel hangers.预留 holes in the wall, insert pin plates, and secure with pins. Lock plates have holes for hanging the hanger safety net. The steel hanger is made of Ф12 rebar, about 1.56 meters long, with a bent hook at the top, featuring a hook welded to the back for hanging the safety net. At the bottom, there is a hinge for the diagonal bar and a wall support foot. Near the top hook (hanger), a wall panel and a loop for hanging nylon rope are also welded. The wall panel ensures that the hanger does not come loose under tension. The hanger distance is typically 3 to 4 meters. (3) First Floor Large Span Safety Net: The first floor large span safety net can be set up using cedar diagonal supports or by placing the net on one side.
