Coated sheets, also known as organic coated sheets or pre-painted steel coils, are made by applying or lamination various organic coatings or plastic films to the surface of metal coils (cold-rolled steel, galvanized steel, aluminum-coated steel, high-aluminum alloy steel, stainless steel, etc.). As these coils are pre-coated at the metallurgical plant, they are ready for direct processing into products by the user, hence also referred to as pre-painted coils.

Coated plates combine the advantages of both organic polymers and steel plates, offering the excellent coloring, molding, corrosion resistance, and decorative properties of organic polymers, along with the high strength and ease of processing of steel plates, making them easy to be cut, bent, deep-drawn, and welded. This results in products made from organic coated steel plates having superior practicality, aesthetics, processability, and durability. There are numerous types of coated plates, exceeding 600, but there is no unified classification method, as it's difficult to find a distinguishing standard among the many varieties. Additionally, each manufacturer has its unique equipment and processes, leading to a wide range of product types. Classification is currently done according to general customs.

1. Categorized by substrate usage, common substrates for organic coated steel plates include cold rolled steel, galvanized steel, electro-galvanized steel, alloyed steel, zinc-aluminum plated steel, electro-galvanized alloy steel, tin-plated steel, chrome-plated steel, and aluminum plates, etc.

2. Organic coated steel sheets are categorized by processing technology, with different coating methods such as roller coating, spray coating, powder coating, lamination, and printing. They are also classified by the number of coatings and baking processes, including one-coat-one-bake, two-coat-two-bake, three-coat-three-bake, and four-coat-four-bake. Furthermore, they can be further divided into wood grain, marble, leather, and cement砂浆 patterns based on embossing or printing processes.

3. Categorized by paint type, usually classified by paints used for organic coatings, including polyvinyl chloride coated steel plate, polyester coated steel plate, silicone polyester coated steel plate, etc.

4. Categorized by coating performance, there are high weather-resistant coating boards, high-temperature-resistant coating boards, self-extinguishing coating boards, sterilization coating boards, non-stick snow coating boards, fingerprint-resistant coating boards, and self-lubricating coating boards, among others.

5. Categorized by special coatings and applications, including epoxy zinc-rich coatings, organic coated steel sheets based on cold-rolled steel plates, velvet-coated steel sheets, and some special machine-coated composite panels such as wood-veneer sheets, sandwich panels, and vibration-dampening panels.
