Pipe supports are connecting components between steel or concrete supports and pipelines, serving as supports (shims) for the pipeline, and are a type of support structure.

High-density pipe supports are primarily composed of isocyanates and polyethers, along with foaming agents, catalysts, and flame retardants. They are produced through a high-speed mixing and reaction process, resulting in a foamed polymer with characteristics of plastic, rubber, and cork.

Pipe supports are also categorized into insulated (for cooling) and uninsulated.

Uninsulated is simply referred to as "support," used primarily for ambient temperature pipelines.

Insulating (or cooling) is referred to as pipe-shoe.

Typically, pipe supports with sliding and guiding types use sliding friction between PTFE boards or between white steel plates and PTFE boards to reduce the friction coefficient, lower the binding stress of the pipe rack on the pipeline during deformation or displacement, and minimize relative movement between the pipe support and the pipeline.
