Geotextile fabric is a type of composite geosynthetic, primarily used in reinforcement and waterproofing projects such as hydraulic, transportation, tunnel, airport, metallurgical tailings, waste disposal sites, and roof waterproofing.
Geotextile waterproofing fabric is a soil erosion prevention material made by bonding a plastic film, primarily used for waterproofing, with non-woven fabric. Its waterproofing performance mainly depends on the waterproofing properties of the plastic film. The plastic films commonly used in waterproofing applications include polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyethylene (PE), which are high molecular weight flexible materials with low density, high extensibility, excellent adaptability to deformation, corrosion resistance, low-temperature resistance, and good frost resistance. The film thickness typically ranges from 0.30 to 2.00mm.
The primary mechanism involves using the impermeability of plastic film to block leakage paths in earth dams, with its high tensile strength and elongation to withstand water pressure and adapt to dam body deformation. Nonwoven fabric, too, is a high molecular fiber chemical material, formed through needle punching or thermal bonding, offering high tensile strength and elongation.
