Geosynthetic membranes are made by combining a plastic film, serving as the base material for leakage prevention, with nonwoven fabric. The performance of these new material geosynthetic membranes primarily depends on the leakage prevention characteristics of the plastic film. The plastic films commonly used for leakage prevention applications worldwide include polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene (PE), and EVA (ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer). In tunnel applications, there are also designs using ECB (ethylene-acetate-vinyl asphalt co-blended geosynthetic membrane). These are high molecular weight, flexible chemical materials with low density, high extensibility, excellent adaptability to deformation, resistance to corrosion,低温 resistance, and good frost resistance.
Geotextile membrane is a waterproof and barrier material made primarily from high molecular polymer.
