Key technical specifications of the blackbody: emissivity, diameter of the blackbody cavity opening, temperature uniformity, and uncertainty of radiative temperature. Therefore, to ensure the quality of the blackbody, they are usually designed in sections by temperature. The blackbody we commonly refer to is an artificial blackbody. The emissivity of artificial blackbodies is close to 1 but not equal to 1.

Calibration and verification of radiation thermometers are typically done using the comparative method, which involves comparing the temperature reproduced by the standard instrument (usually a blackbody radiation source) with the temperature reproduced by the radiation thermometer being tested, to determine its qualification or provide calibration results.
