Transmission line towers are tall structures used to support and elevate conductors, lightning protection wires, and other accessories, ensuring that the conductors maintain the required safe distances from each other, from the towers, from lightning protection wires, and from the ground or any crossing objects.
The tower section changes abruptly upwards (forms a bend) from the tower leg, with the above part being the tower head. If there is no abrupt change in the section, then the part above the bottom chord of the lower cross arm is the tower head.
Tower Leg
The lower section of the tower frame is referred to as the tower leg.
Tower body
The portion between the tower leg and tower frame is called the tower body.
