A tee is a type of pipe fitting. A hot-pressed tee is a tee made using the hot-pressing process. A hot-pressed tee is formed by heating the pipe and then processing it into shape with specialized equipment, cutting it to the critical temperature, and then quickly immersing it in a quenching agent to rapidly lower the temperature, resulting in a tee made by cooling it at a rate faster than the critical cooling speed. The heat treatment method, quenching, involves heating the tee above the critical temperature, holding it for a period, and then rapidly immersing it in a quenching agent to lower the temperature abruptly, achieving an uneven structure primarily composed of martensite.
High-pressure seamless tees consist of a main pipe with a smaller branch pipe attached. Clearly, the two larger sizes are the main pipes, and the smaller size coming off in the middle is the branch pipe. In pure oxygen pipelines, they are typically under pressure, which increases the oxygen's reactivity. If a reducing tee is used, any debris moving with the oxygen flow may collide with the pipe due to the change in pipe diameter, causing a flame source or static discharge due to the change in flow velocity, both of which could lead to the ignition of the pure oxygen pipeline.
