Central air conditioning noise control mainly involves fan noise management, compressor noise control, pump noise management, and vibration pollution control.

The cooling tower generates significant noise pollution during operation, affecting the living and working environments of residents. The noise sources of the cooling tower consist of the following parts:

1. Fan intake and exhaust noise

2. Compressor noise

3. Fan speed reducers and noise

4. Noise from cooling tower pumps, piping, and valves.
Aircraft noise control primarily involves the management of fan noise, compressor noise, pump noise, and vibration pollution control of equipment and pipelines.

By cooling method classification:

1. Air-cooled: The condenser uses forced air convection for heat exchange. This is the standard in residential air conditioners. Air-cooled AC units come in two types: single-cooling and heat pump. The single-cooling model, as the name suggests, can only cool during summer, while the heat pump model can both cool in summer and heat in winter.

2. Water Cooling: Heat emitted from the condenser is cooled by a water flow. To save water, the cooled water exiting the condenser is pumped to a cooling tower, where it exchanges heat with the air before returning to the condenser. Water cooling systems are generally used only for refrigeration.

By type of main compressor:

Piston-type Compressors: These were commonly used in early air conditioners due to their high number of components, leading to a higher failure rate and production costs. They also lack stability in operation and have poor resistance to liquid hammer, which is why they are rarely used nowadays.

2. Scroll Compressors: A highly utilized compressor type, consisting of four main parts: the fixed disk, moving disk, motor, and housing. It is characterized by its minimal parts, high operational stability, long service life, and is widely used in small refrigeration units, such as the modular units and residential air conditioners mentioned later.

3. Screw Compressors: Frequently used in large central air conditioning units, these compressors are characterized by few parts, high stability, long service life, easy maintenance, and most importantly, a high energy efficiency ratio. The screw compressors are up to 25% more energy-efficient than reciprocating compressors for the same cooling capacity. There are single-screw and twin-screw compressors available.

4. Centrifugal Compressor: The centrifugal compressor resembles a large centrifugal pump in appearance and has a similar structure. It is commonly used in high-power central air conditioning units, featuring large cooling capacity per unit, simple structure, reliable performance, and stable operation.

Based on our company's years of experience with similar engineering projects, when the air conditioning unit is operating normally, the noise level at the exhaust outlet exceeds 80 dB(A); the noise level about 1 meter away from the equipment is around 75 dB; after the equipment is turned on, the noise level at the factory boundary may exceed the standard.

After analysis, the noise generated by the air conditioning unit during operation mainly includes: aerodynamic noise from the exhaust outlet, compressor noise, mechanical noise from the unit's operation, pipeline resonance noise caused by the equipment, motor noise, and so on.

The air dynamic noise from the exhaust vent and the compressor noise are the main sources of noise from the equipment. The noise at the exhaust vent primarily consists of airflow noise, plus the noise from the high-speed rotating blades of the fan, which constitutes the air dynamic noise. Mechanical noise includes noise from bearings and structural vibrations caused by the unbalanced rotation of the motor rotor, due to "groove harmonic forces." Electromagnetic noise is the transmission of noise caused by alternating electromagnetic attraction between the stator and rotor, as well as hysteresis expansion.

For noise-sensitive areas affected by noise, the direct path of noise propagation is through the air.

There are mainly three methods for general noise control: reducing noise at the source, interrupting the path of noise transmission, and implementing protective measures at sensitive areas.
