4Cr10Si2Mo is a medium carbon martensitic valve steel. Valve steel, also known as valve steel.
It is an important branch of heat-resistant steel, used for manufacturing various internal combustion engine valves and is a specialized material specifically for making intake and exhaust valves for internal combustion engines.
Valve steel operates under extremely harsh conditions, enduring long-term exposure to high temperatures of 400-900°C and explosion pressures ranging from 3447.5 to 6895.0 kPa. It withstands the high-temperature corrosion and erosion from corrosive gases, frequent and rapid high-speed movement, friction, and impact, all while carrying heavy loads.
Therefore, the valve material 4Cr10Si2Mo must possess excellent thermal strength, thermal hardness, fatigue strength, wear resistance, and anti-oxidation and anti-corrosion properties. The internal structure must be free of defects, and the surface must not have cracks.
Additionally, a low coefficient of linear expansion is required, and the manufacturing process for valves also imposes strict requirements on the quality of the steel.
4Cr10Si2Mo valve steel is difficult to produce, challenging to cold work, and has a high scrap rate.
4Cr10Si2Mo features excellent heat-resistant properties, suitable for use in internal combustion engine intake valves, exhaust valves for light-load engines, etc. It is a well-established valve steel grade in use.
As per the execution standard, it is generally GJB 4050-2001.
