Processed 310S stainless steel square tubes, brushed 2520 stainless steel square tubes, available for custom processing.
Stainless steel square tubes are hollow long strips of steel, named as such because their cross-section is square. They are extensively used for conveying fluids such as oil, natural gas, water, coal gas, steam, etc. Additionally, due to their lighter weight while maintaining the same bending and torsional strength, they are also employed in the manufacturing of mechanical parts and engineering structures [1].

Stainless Steel Square Tube Categories: Square tubes are divided into two main types: seamless steel tubes and welded steel tubes (seamed tubes). They can also be classified by cross-sectional shape, including square and rectangular tubes. Circular steel tubes are commonly used, but there are also other shapes like semi-circular, hexagonal, equilateral triangular, and octagonal tubes.
All stainless steel square tubes subject to fluid pressure must undergo hydrostatic testing to verify their pressure resistance and quality. No leakage, wetting, or expansion under the specified pressure is considered合格. Some steel tubes also require edge rolling, expansion, flattening tests, etc., based on standards or customer requirements.
Square tube specifications: 5*5~150*150 mm, thickness: 0.4~6.0 mm
Material: 304, 304L, TP304, TP316L, 316, 316L, 316Ti, 321, 347H, 310S [1].
Production Process
Round steel preparation → heating → hot rolling piercing → cutting heads → washing → polishing → lubrication → cold rolling processing → degreasing → solid solution heat treatment → straightening → cutting into tubes → washing → finished product inspection.
Performance Analysis
Metals can react with oxygen in the atmosphere to form an oxide layer on the surface. The iron oxide formed on ordinary carbon steel continues to oxidize, causing rust to spread and form holes. This can be prevented by painting the surface or electroplating with corrosion-resistant metals. However, this protective layer is only a thin film, and if it's damaged, the steel beneath will start to rust again. The corrosion resistance of stainless steel tubes is related to the chromium content in the steel. When the chromium content reaches 12%, a passive, dense chromium oxide layer forms on the surface of the stainless steel tube in the atmosphere, protecting it from further oxidation. This oxide layer is extremely thin, allowing the natural luster of the steel surface to be seen through it, giving stainless steel its unique finish. If the chromium layer is damaged, the chromium in the steel reacts with oxygen in the atmosphere to form a new passive layer, continuing to provide protection. In some special environments, stainless steel may experience localized corrosion and fail, but unlike carbon steel, it does not undergo uniform corrosion and failure. Therefore, the corrosion allowance is not significant for stainless steel tubes.
