The mahogany drying equipment involves placing wood in an airtight container under conditions of reduced atmospheric pressure to facilitate drying. Under vacuum conditions, the boiling point of water is lowered, accelerating evaporation rates, thereby speeding up the drying process at lower temperatures. During drying, the wood's surface moisture evaporates into the surrounding air, and internal moisture moves towards the surface. To enhance drying speed, it is crucial to increase the movement of internal moisture. Additionally, the reduced boiling point of water in a vacuum accelerates the evaporation of internal moisture, increases the moisture content gradient on the wood surface, and prevents excessive evaporation and cracking. As the wood's surface moisture evaporates rapidly, it absorbs a significant amount of latent heat, causing the wood surface to cool. These factors collectively accelerate the movement of internal moisture to the wood surface.
Under vacuum conditions, the air inside the drying unit is sparse, and conventional heating methods cannot be used. To address the heating issue during vacuum drying of wood, a method of continuous high-frequency heating is employed. High-frequency vacuum drying can eliminate the surface hardening and cracking that commonly occurs during atmospheric pressure drying. The pressure difference between the internal and surface of the wood in high-frequency vacuum drying is significant. Under the action of the pressure gradient, moisture quickly moves to the surface, which simultaneously increases the drying rate, shortens the drying time, and reduces operating costs. Additionally, under low-pressure conditions, the oxygen content in the drying medium is sparse, resulting in less material discoloration due to thermal and oxidative effects, thus maintaining the natural color of the material.
