How to repair a corrupted WinRAR archive
If you open a compressed file and find it's corrupted, you can launch WinRAR, navigate to the damaged compressed folder, select the file within it, then choose the "Repair" button on the toolbar (labeled "Repair" in the English version). After confirming, WinRAR will start repairing the file and a repair window will pop up. Simply select the repaired ZIP or RAR file package.

WinRAR is a file compression management software developed by Eugene Roshal (hence the full name is Roshal ARchive). The public version, RAR 1.3, was released in 1993. Pocket RAR is a free software for the Pocket PC platform. It is one of the few programs that can read and write RAR files, as it retains copyright.
Eugene Roshal was born on March 10, 1972, in Russia. He graduated from Chelyabinsk Technical University and is the author of the FAR file manager. He developed a program for compressing and decompressing RAR files, initially for DOS, and later ported to other platforms. The main Windows version encoder, known as WinRAR, was released as shareware. However, Roshal made UnRAR's license public, allowing conditional free distribution and modification (condition: no distribution of compiled RAR-compatible encoders). The RAR encoder has always been patented.
The recent developer is Alexander Roshal. Despite his patent, compiled decompression programs still exist on several platforms, such as the open-source 7-Zip. Despite the industry's general chaos, there seems to be no pure open-source module capable of decompressing RAR files version 2.0 or higher.
