Principle of Detection

Solid polymer electrochemical sensing technology represents an innovation in the field of electrochemical detection. The technology is based on electrochemical gas detection principles, capable of measuring gases that can be chemically decomposed. The sensor consists of three electrodes in contact with the electrolyte, with typical electrodes made from noble metals with large surface areas and other materials. The electrodes, electrolyte, and ambient air come into contact, and gases diffuse into the sensor's working electrodes through the backside of a porous membrane. On these electrodes, gases are oxidized or reduced, leading to an electrochemical reaction that generates a current through an external circuit.
