HPAA boasts excellent chemical stability, is resistant to hydrolysis, and is not easily damaged by acids or alkalis. It is non-toxic and non-polluting. HPAA enhances the solubility of zinc and exhibits strong corrosion inhibition properties, with its corrosion inhibition performance surpassing that of HEDP and EDTMP. Primarily used as a cathodic corrosion inhibitor for metals, HPAA is extensively applied in the corrosion inhibition and scale prevention of circulating cooling water systems in industries such as steel, petrochemical, power, and pharmaceuticals. It is suitable for use as a corrosion inhibitor in the southern regions of China, where water is low in hardness and prone to corrosion.
