Hydroxpropylated product, hydroxpropyl-γ-cyclodextrin, exhibits an enhanced water solubility up to 80g/100ml at 25°C. Unlike the pure form, the hydroxpropylated γ-cyclodextrin is a mixture of various substituted species, making it less prone to form crystalline inclusion complexes upon complexation with guest molecules. Overall, hydroxpropyl-γ-cyclodextrin boasts higher water solubility and stronger resistance to crystallization. The water solubility of γ-cyclodextrin is 23.2g/100ml at 25°C, and its solubility can still limit its applications in certain cases.

Recommended for high-value-added products such as health care, cosmetics, and for the treatment of larger molecules with hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin non-inclusion.
