If EPS foam boards are used in the external thermal insulation system of the outer wall, their apparent density must meet the requirements of the standard JG149-2003 "Thermal Insulation System of External Walls with Thin Coating of Expanded Polystyrene Boards," which specifies an apparent density of 18-22 kg/m3.

5. When expanded polystyrene (EPS) beads are heated above 90°C, they soften, and the foaming agent vaporization can cause the EPS beads to expand 40-80 times.
