Polyolefin corrosion-resistant adhesive tape is a new environmentally friendly material that is non-polluting and non-hazardous. It is made of woven polypropylene fiber fabric and coated with butyl rubber-modified asphalt for the corrosion-resistant layer. The fibrous base material effectively resists creep damage caused by soil stress, and aging tests have proven its long corrosion resistance life. According to surveys of similar products used internationally, its effective protective time exceeds 30 years [1]. It is an excellent choice for cold corrosion prevention during pipeline construction and also one of the more economical options for corrosion prevention.
Polyolefin anti-corrosion tape is a new type of environmentally friendly, non-polluting, and non-hazardous protective product. It is widely used in the external anti-corrosion and repair projects of oil and gas pipelines, water supply and drainage systems in urban construction, and steel storage tanks for oil and gas transmission. It is recommended by the Ministry of Construction and the State Environmental Protection Administration as a substitute for "asphalt glass fiber cloth" and "epoxy coal tar". It features easy installation, impact resistance, aging resistance, tensile resistance, UV radiation resistance, and high bonding strength.
Polyolefin tape, composed of a polyolefin backing and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, is a strip material for corrosion protection. It forms a pipeline corrosion layer through cold wrapping. It can be categorized by backing material into polyethylene tape with polyethylene backing and polypropylene tape with polypropylene fiber backing. Polyethylene tape can be further divided into thin adhesive tape and thick adhesive tape based on the pressure-sensitive adhesive characteristics, while polypropylene tape is of the thick adhesive type.
Thinner adhesive tape with a thin adhesive layer does not require a release paper on the adhesive surface during winding. It is a polyethylene adhesive tape that won't damage the adhesive layer when unwound, with the adhesive layer thickness ideally accounting for 30% to 60% of the total tape thickness. The thinner adhesive polyethylene tape includes corrosion-resistant adhesive tape (inner) and protective adhesive tape (outer).
Thick adhesive tape with a surface layer of release paper attached during winding to prevent damage to the adhesive layer upon unwinding. The adhesive layer should be at least 70% of the total tape thickness, made from polyethylene or polypropylene.
