Yongsheng Ship introduces the knowledge of the suction dredger and sediment cleaning ship below:
Suction dredgers are versatile, capable of operating in rivers, lakes, and seas for sediment removal, channel excavation, and land reclamation. In special cases, with the installation of high-power cutter equipment on suction dredgers, rock formations such as basalt and limestone can be excavated without the need for blasting.
High-efficiency cutter suction dredgers have large output and long pumping distances. Large-scale cutter suction dredgers can achieve several thousand cubic meters per hour; relying on powerful power, they pump mud, sand, or crushed rock materials through mud pumps and pipeline systems, extending several kilometers away.
The cutter suction dredger operates simply and is easy to control. The dredger relies on the carriage at the stern to position and advance the steel piles. It uses the swing arm of the winch bridge to laterally shift cables connected and anchored to both sides of the dredging trench, being pulled by the winch. Through side-to-side swinging within a controlled angle, it works to pump the silt and sand excavated by the cutter or bucket wheel through the slurry pipeline to the designated area. The forward movement of the dredger is achieved by the alternating motion of two piles, stepping forward.
