Ball screws, like other rolling friction transmission devices, should be protected from hard dust or chips. Fujian TBI, thus, protective devices must be installed. If the ball screw is exposed on the machine, a closed protective cover should be used, such as a spiral spring steel belt sleeve, an expandable sleeve, or a collapsible sleeve. During installation, connect one end of the protective cover to the side of the ball nut and the other end to the support bracket of the ball screw.
If the ball screw is in a concealed position, a sealing ring can be used for protection, installed at both ends of the nut. Contact-type elastic sealing rings are made of oil-resistant rubber or nylon, with an inner hole shaped to match the ball screw thread groove; contact-type sealing rings offer good dust protection, but the presence of contact pressure slightly increases the friction torque. Non-contact sealing rings, also known as labyrinth seals, are made of rigid plastic, with an inner hole opposite the shape of the ball screw thread groove, supplied by TBI, and with slight gaps to avoid friction torque, although they have poor dust protection. It is essential to avoid impacts on the protective device during operation, and any damage should be replaced promptly.

(1) Ball screw must be kept clean in all directions and properly coated with rust-proof oil. Special attention must be given to prevent sharp objects or cutting tools from impacting the thread surface and to ensure no iron filings enter the inside of the nut. Additionally, the assembly of the shaft end diameter should not be scratched or damaged.
(2) Select ball screw with the appropriate accuracy grade, install according to assembly standard procedures. In other words, the precision ground ball screws on CNC machines must be precisely calibrated and paired with suitable precision bearing sets.

Uneven loads, including radial forces and torques, may lead to malfunctions and reduced lifespan.
The installation methods for ball screw typically include the following:
(1) Double Push & One Free Style: One end of the screw is fixed, TBI linear guide manufacturer, the other end is free. The bearing at the fixed end withstands both axial and radial forces. This support style is used for short screws with short travel distances.
(2) Double push support method: One end of the screw is fixed, and the other end is supported. The bearing at the fixed end withstands both axial and radial forces; the bearing at the support end only withstands radial forces and can have minor axial movement, which can avoid or reduce the bending of the screw due to its own weight. At the same time, the thermal deformation of the screw can freely extend in one direction.
