Product Overview
Highly formable, corrosion-resistant, and weldable, 5083, a medium-strength alloy in the Al-Mg-Si series, is widely used and indispensable in the construction industry, making it a promising material. It boasts excellent corrosion resistance, weldability, cold working properties, and medium strength. The primary alloying element in 5083 is magnesium, which contributes to its good formability, corrosion resistance, and weldability. It is utilized in the production of aircraft fuel tanks, oil pipes, sheet metal for transportation vehicles and ships, instrument supports and rivets, hardware products, electrical enclosures, and more.
AL-Mg series alloys are widely used corrosion-resistant aluminum alloys with high strength, especially fatigue resistance. They have good plasticity and corrosion resistance, cannot be heat treated for strengthening, retain good plasticity during semi-cold working hardening, and low plasticity during cold working hardening. They are excellent in corrosion resistance and welding properties, poor in machinability, and can be polished. Applications mainly include parts requiring high plasticity and good welding properties, such as low-load components operating in liquid or gas media, such as fuel tanks, gasoline or lubricating oil hoses, various liquid containers, and other small-load components made by deep drawing: wire rods for rivets.
Product Application
5083 is commonly used for ship and vessel materials, vehicle components, automotive and aircraft plate weldments, pressure vessels requiring strict fire resistance, refrigeration units, television towers, drilling equipment, transportation equipment, missile components, armor, and more.
