Excellent weldability, corrosion resistance, formability, and machinability; 6082 is a heat-treatable alloy with good formability, weldability, machinability, and corrosion resistance, featuring moderate strength and retained good workability after annealing. It is primarily used in mechanical structures, including bars, plates, tubes, and profiles. This alloy has similar but not identical mechanical properties to 6061, with the -T6 condition offering high mechanical characteristics. Alloy 6082 is widely used in Europe and highly applied in the U.S., suitable for processing materials, seamless aluminum tubes, structural profiles, and custom profiles. The 6082 alloy typically exhibits excellent processing properties and good anodic reaction performance. Common anodic reaction methods include removing impurities and dyeing, coating, etc.
Alloy 6082 combines excellent weldability, brazability, corrosion resistance, formability, and machinability. The -0 and T4 tempers of Alloy 6082 are suitable for bending and forming applications, while the -T5 and -T6 tempers are ideal for good machinability requirements. Some specific processes may require the use of chip separators or other special techniques to separate chips. The 6082 alloy typically boasts excellent processing characteristics and excellent anodic reaction properties.
