
Common PDMS Materials
There are two commonly used types of PDMS: PDMS chips, including Matsumoto's PDMS RTV-615 and Dow Corning's Sylgard 184. The composition of these materials is currently a trade secret, known only to a few. Based on years of experience, here are some suggestions on how to choose the appropriate PDMS:
Maituo PDMS RTV-615:
1) Selection of materials for manufacturing micro-valves.
2) Durable, with strong key force, suitable for multi-layer bonding chips.
3) Resists dirt, prone to staining.
Dow Corning PDMS Sylgard 184
1) Relatively clean
2) Suitable for single-layer bonding; not suitable for multi-layer bonding

Advantages: Optical transparency, biocompatibility, inert, easy to process on the surface, suitable for mass manufacturing processes, high commercial viability, low cost, and quick to bond.
Drawbacks: Expensive equipment required for complex chip production with this polymer, difficulties encountered in the thermal bonding step: more channels collapse when the width-to-height ratio is too high.
Common Applications: Cell Culture Research;
Potential Applications: Cell culture on microfluidic chips (microchannel chips) using plasma treatment or masking layers, or pre-coating microchannels with extracellular matrix proteins before cell seeding to facilitate cell adhesion and growth, while also preventing bubble formation.
Molding Methods: Injection molding, heat stamping.
Adhesive Method: Heat bonding, with plasma treatment to enhance bonding strength.
Glass transition temperature: 92-107°C.
