Flexibility: With the advancement of microfluidic research, its applications are also on the rise. For instance, researchers in flexible electronics have begun to use PDMS microchips due to their flexibility.
Adjustability: The elastic modulus of PDMS is relatively low, which can be easily adjusted by altering the curing agent ratio, thereby providing a wide range of material stiffness. There are also methods to adjust the electrical and thermal properties of PDMS microfluidic chips.
Permeability: PDMS is a breathable material, differing from PMMA and PC, with an oxygen diffusion coefficient of approximately 2000-4000 μm²/s and a CO2 diffusion coefficient of about 1000 μm²/s. This gives PDMS an advantage in long-term cell culture. However, this permeability can also lead to non-specific absorption of hydrophobic small molecules into the microfluidic channels.

Manufacturing Process
Main processing methods include machining, heat stamping, and injection molding.
Machine processing is primarily used for small-scale sample verification.
Hot stamping is suitable for chip processing with small channel dimensions, but the channel depth should not be too deep.
Injection molding, compared to expensive molds, is suitable for mass production after the product is shaped.
Bonding Method
Microfluidic plastic chip bonding methods mainly include thermal compression bonding, ultrasonic bonding, and laser bonding.
TopXu Microcontrol offers custom processing services for microfluidic chips in various materials, including PDMS chips, glass chips, plastic chips, and silicon chips. With over a decade of experience, we provide PMMA chips with high efficiency and affordable prices. We undertake scientific research customization and corporate bulk customization.

Commonly Used PDMS Materials
There are two commonly used PDMS types: one is Matubas PDMS RTV-615, and the other is Dow Corning's PDMS Sylgard 184. The compositions of these materials are currently classified as trade secrets, known only to a few. Based on years of experience, here are some suggestions on how to choose the appropriate PDMS:
Matu PDMS RTV-615:
1) Selection of shutoffs for micro-valve manufacturing.
2) Durable, with strong bonding force, suitable for multi-layer bonding of chips.
3) Resists stains, prone to dirt.
Dow Corning PDMS Sylgard 184
1) Rather clean
2) Suitable for single-layer bonding; not suitable for multi-layer bonding
