For power systems with different voltage levels, the grounding method of their neutral points varies. In China, according to our national conditions, the 6~66KV distribution systems primarily employ a small current grounding operation mode. To effectively prevent arc grounding in the system, eliminate grounding faults, and improve the quality of power supply, in accordance with the new regulations of the national specification for overvoltage protection design, arc suppression coils should be installed when the grid's capacitive current exceeds 10A. Since the grounding current in the power system grounded through an arc suppression coil is small, its interference with nearby communications is also minimal, which is an advantage of this grounding method.
In the past, our country's power grid commonly utilized manual tap-changing arc suppression coils. Due to the inability to monitor the capacitance current of the power grid in real-time, its main defects are manifested in the following two aspects:
