Therefore, it is not strictly necessary to differentiate between the front and reverse sides for such fabrics.
Moreover, the right and wrong sides of workwear fabric can be distinguished from the selvage. Generally, the right side is flatter than the wrong side, which has a curled-in selvage. For fabric woven with a rapier loom, the selvage along the right side is smooth, while the selvage on the wrong side shows the fluffy ends of the weft threads. Fabric with printed codes or logos has clear fonts on the right side, blurred on the wrong side, and the text is reversed. Some fabrics with logos are easily recognizable, with the logo side being the right side. Most double-width velvet is folded in half for manufacturing, with the inner layer being the right side and the outer layer being the wrong side.
